Many teachers integrate technology into their classrooms to
help enhance their teaching abilities and bring more knowledge to their students
as efficiently as they can. Though technology can be extremely helpful with
learning programs, writing papers, creating slide shows, etc. there are some
students who have difficulty using technology due to disabilities they may have
whether they be physical or learning disabilities. For students who may have physical
disabilities such as being unable to view a monitor or use a standard mouse
they can have some assistance with magnified screens, text-to-speech software or
possibly braille printers. These students can also use voice recognition software
or a trackball or joystick if they are unable to use a standard mouse. Students
with learning disabilities on the other hand such as a student with dyslexia,
can use spell check or a speech recognition software to enhance their writing. Students
with other learning disabilities can also make use of productivity tools to help
make their computing easier. I have personally never used a program to help me
with the use of technology due to any type of disability nor have I ever seen a
peer of mine use one so my experience is basically nonexistent but I would love
to learn and experience more with them in order to satisfy any needs one of my future
students may have.
I have used technology in my educational life for as long as
I can remember and believe it has very much so enhanced that experience. Therefore,
I definitely see myself using technology in my professional life just as often.
Teachers are regularly expected to upload grades online as well as communicate
with students, parents, co-workers, etc. through online emails, and create presentations
to present to students for lecture on a regular basis. I feel I will be equipped
and skilled enough to complete tasks such as these and believe I will succeed
in the world of technology.
I had never before heard of a WebQuest prior to being assigned to create one so that gave me a rocky start to the assignment but once I better understood the concept, I feel I really enjoyed creating one. I had previously made a website for a class my first semester as a college student and thankfully remembered some of the basics to creating one efficiently through weebly.com. I carefully followed instructions as well as got some helpful tips from peers and researching about WebQuests online. I feel I can improve on content and better flow of instruction. With practice I am sure I will become better with this in being able to better flow instruction making it as easy as possible for any student to use. I loved the concept of this assignment and look forward to including this in my future classroom.
Here is my WebQuest....
I agree! I never really was exposed to the technologies by any of my classmates, but I am studying to be a special ed teacher so I am sure I will have students who will need and use them in my future career so it was really neat to be talking and learning about them in this class! Also love your WebQuest!! I think it turned out so nice, and it was neat that you had previously done something similar and were able to apply those skills to this assignment!!
