I found a website actually created by a past teacher of mine
and found lots of cool elements to it. First of I love that she calls her classroom
“The Happy Room” creating an inviting positive space for her students. She has separate
pages for each levels of classes she teaches including, AP Macroeconomics/Government,
Honors/Gifted American History, and Honors/Gifted Economics/Government. Under
these pages she includes sections explaining what they did the past week in
class, homework assignments, important due dates, important links for homework,
and any upcoming events. She also includes separate pages for
Scholarship/College Information, an About Me, and Contact Me. I believe these
are great additional pages with information that may not be specific to the
class or its content but can still be helpful to a student.
I relate this blogging experience to
past class assignments called discussion boards. In these discussion boards we
were assigned a prompt, or maybe told to read something and create a personal
response to it. I feel these were very similar, but our blog posts are much
more public, and I feel more personal. I personally really enjoy the thought of
writing a blog and posting it for the world to see and have even thought about building
my own personal bog on lifestyle, food, etc.
Working on our last assignment definitely
gave me more practice with the CRAP principles and working to make a good user-friendly
website. I really like the idea of using a website as a way to communicate with
students. I have seen my past teachers do things similar and have loved my
experience with that so I think I will definitely implement this concept into
my future as a teacher.
Hi again, Amanda! Your teacher's classroom page is so cute! I thought it was a nice coincidence. that we both chose 'About' pages from Advanced Placement Government teachers. I love how detailed is, and I hope that in the future my teacher page remains as up-to-date as this one. My experience with discussion boards is limited to only one class before, but I like the accessibility of these blogs too. Like you said, it is public and personal. Have a good week. :)

Hey Amanda! I think that's so cool that a past teacher of yours was helpful or this assignment! I didn't even think of looking up my old teachers!! I also didn't even think about the connection between our blogs and discussion boards- they really are quite similar!! Nice job!!!
