Students now use many different software’s as technology is such a big part of their education process. I am personally one of those students who has used many different software’s each with many different purposes. One I used in high school is called Khan Academy it has video tutorials and practice problems that help students with many different school subjects. This program really helped me get the practice I needed to fully understand topics being taught in class in order for me to succeed and pass my classes. Because I have tried this software myself and know it can really help students succeed, I would most definitely have my students use it. Another program I have used especially in college and would have my students use is google drive/doc. This software allows you to easily save, edit and share documents. In the past I have used it to share word documents with others in a group project allowing each of us to edit the document and collaborate without having to meet each other in person. Again, because I have used this in the past and it made group projects much easier, I will have my future students use this software.

My twitter experience has been pretty positive where as I have been able to express my thoughts, feelings, and communicate with others. I have mostly interacted with other classmates but also with other educators in the twitter verse. I believe twitter gives people a space where they can communicate their feelings, and thoughts feely which can make it very helpful in a future career as well as networking with others in your career field.

  1. I also used Khan Academy in highschool and have continued using it during my college experience! I think it is such an underrated academic resource, as it has helped me in a variety of classes I have taken. The ability to read about topics as well as watch videos and take short quizzes has really helped me understand what I am learning.

  2. I also mentioned Khan Academy in my post as I used it quite often in high school for math practice! I have not used it so much in college, but think it is great for high school!! I haven't loved Twitter so much for a class assignment, but I am glad you have enjoyed it and have been able to interact with people through that platform!

I have learned so much from this class that I will definitely be using in other classes as a student and in my own that one day I will be facilitating. Although I have learned so much there is always so much more to add to your knowledge. I would love to learn a lot more about excel because I know very basic functions and I know there is so much deeper content that I can get into that could be so useful. I think it could be greatly useful in keeping grades and other info that is important for me in my future class as an educator.

I found a website actually created by a past teacher of mine and found lots of cool elements to it. First of I love that she calls her classroom “The Happy Room” creating an inviting positive space for her students. She has separate pages for each levels of classes she teaches including, AP Macroeconomics/Government, Honors/Gifted American History, and Honors/Gifted Economics/Government. Under these pages she includes sections explaining what they did the past week in class, homework assignments, important due dates, important links for homework, and any upcoming events. She also includes separate pages for Scholarship/College Information, an About Me, and Contact Me. I believe these are great additional pages with information that may not be specific to the class or its content but can still be helpful to a student.    https://mrslowd.educatorpages.com/ I relate this blogging experience to past class assignments called discussion boards. In these disc...

Open education is a movement focusing on providing many resources, tools and practices free of legal, and financial barriers allowing individuals to use, share and adapt content digitally. Giving those with limited resources and financials a chance to enhance their teaching and learning abilities with more available up to date information. I have personally in the past used Khan Academy an example of an open education source to supplement my own learning abilities. With this source people can have an extra resource of teachings to help motivate their learning and gain quality educational practices for free. Khan Academy provides educational content in areas such as math, science, computing, arts & humanities, economics and even test prep. Open content is content available to anyone for free and gives the person the freedom to retain, reuse, redistribute, revise, and remix the content without the fear of invading on copyrighted content. As...
